I've noticed on these forums several times both you and léonie talk about referenced files, and how they should not be used. It's taken me a couple of hours this morning deleting them from the app.

While in Media Pro SE, I noticed that the app has imported every single media file from my computer, literally thousands of pdf, cwk, pict, etc files, and all of the old files from a language school I had some years back. I ran it, deleted the files that were missing, created an XML file, but after all that NeoFinder would not import it! Dead end there. It looks like keywords will be the mainstay of the organization in many cases.

I'm looking into ways to use Photos instead of Media Pro once the next system comes along which will only accept 64 bit apps. It's too easy to break the link making the recovery difficult.

However, Photos and iPhoto don't work well with referenced files. Media Pro SE uses referenced files as part of its normal operation. That created album for each folder imported. When importing the screenshots into the Photos library I used the "Keep Folder Organization" option. I search by keyword in Media Pro SE and am able to create smart albums for each keyword so I'll be able to search in Photos. I also use the same method to populate a new Photos library with a collection of 5000 screenshots that I use in these forums. When imported into NeoFinder they were read along with the image file. This created an XML file for each image file. What I did was to select all of the images in my catalog and exported the annotations with these settings: I am running Mojave and Media Pro SE runs fine on it. If anyone can help, I would be eternally grateful. Everything on my computer is as up to date as a High Sierra iMac can be. I have been wracking my brain for a logical answer to this but cannot find one. It imported about 4,900 photos with keywords attached, and then just stopped.

And not one single photo after that, in any folder all the way to 2018, has a single keyword attached. But in my 2002 folder, this photo has keywords, but this one taken 11 minutes later has no keywords. Today I started again by creating a new library, importing slowly, folder by folder (referenced) and was happy to find that it was showing the keywords. Photos for Mac: I've used this for several years for my iPhone photos, but always have had terrible problems with dates if I start importing from my earliest photo folder (1985). Lyn: this is very easy to use, but my keywords only show on photos up until the end of 2000, and then disappear.ģ. Unfortunately, SE will not let me create XML files, giving me this message each time I try "The action could not be completed because the catalog contains files not found in mounted volumes." Dead end.Ģ. NeoFinder: apparently this can import XML files from Media Pro SE.

I'm looking at something simply that will import all the keywords that I have added to my 20,000-ish photos. My kids are mostly grown up now, so I don't take that many photos any more.

I have always used keywords extensively.īefore I buy a new iMac running Mojave (which won't run the 32 bit Media Pro SE) I have been looking at various replacement apps that I can use in my simple DAM set-up. Since it first came out, I have been using iView Media Pro through its many iterations up until the now dropped-by-Capture1 Media Pro SE. The photos on my iMac are kept in folders, by year.
